EV Energy Trading Dashboard

This is an interactive dashboard that simulates how a household with rooftop solar and one Electric Vehicle (EV) can reduce electricity cost and emissions by using the EV as a battery-on-wheels. It models energy trading between the EV, the home, and the grid through smart charging and discharging, based on predicted mobility and energy conditions.

The simulation uses 31 days of 5-minute interval data based on real sources, including electricity pricing, household appliance usage, solar output, emission intensity, and EV mobility. Forecasting models predict upcoming conditions, and a smart scheduler determines when to charge, discharge, or stay idle to achieve the best result for either cost, emissions, or both.

Users can explore different scenarios by adjusting the cost–emission trade-off, charging and discharging power, and number of solar panels. The dashboard visualises how these variables interact, how forecasting accuracy affects cumulative outcomes, and how smart charging compares to baseline strategies like basic or scheduled charging.

This tool is designed for EV owners, prospective users, researchers, media, and industry stakeholders who want to better understand how EVs can actively support more efficient and sustainable home energy systems.
